Use this editable Word template to explain an interior design service before work begins. It gives you a structure for the project brief, included areas, deliverables, review rounds, fees and payment milestones.

What is in the template
- Project and scope: client and practice details, issue date, priorities, included areas, exclusions and information needed to begin.
- Deliverables and programme: editable stages, outputs, target dates, decisions, feedback rounds and coordination responsibilities.
- Fees and next steps: fee basis, currency, tax treatment, payment milestones, costs outside the fee and outstanding decisions.
Make it specific to your practice
- Replace every bracketed prompt. Use the actual project and client details. Remove unused stages and rows rather than leaving a service ambiguous.
- Describe the output. Replace a broad phrase such as “design package” with the drawings, schedules, views or meetings you intend to provide. State their format and intended use.
- Define the review process. Record the feedback rounds included, who gives consolidated feedback and how extra work will be discussed and quoted.
- Check the programme. Tie dates to the information, access, decisions and third-party work the project needs. Confirm the start trigger with the client.
- Reconcile the commercial figures. Check component fees, tax treatment and payment milestones against the proposed total. The Word document does not calculate them.
- Issue a clear revision. Save the project name, date and revision. Review the scope and any separate appointment terms together before starting.
Use the right document for each conversation
A design brief explains the homeowner’s needs. A proposal explains the services a professional offers in response. A BOQ worksheet records the individual work items, quantities and rates behind an estimate. Keep their scopes consistent when you use them together.
Keep exclusions visible
List the work and costs outside the quoted fee, including any separately appointed services. Record which party provides measurements, site access, product decisions and contractor coordination. The template leaves these decisions for your project; it does not insert standard rates or automatic commitments.
Before sharing
- Replace prompts and remove unused content.
- Check the client, property, contact and revision details.
- Confirm that the listed outputs match the fee and programme.
- Recheck amounts and milestone totals after edits.
- Share the completed file directly with the intended recipient.
Downloading the template does not publish a proposal or send a message. You edit your copy in a compatible document editor. Aangan does not receive the contents of that local file.
Can I edit it in Word?
Yes. The file contains editable paragraphs and tables in DOCX format. Add or remove rows and adapt the wording to your services. Check the page layout after your edits.
Does it include rates or calculate fees?
No. Enter the figures from your own proposal and check the totals. For item quantities and quoted rates, use the BOQ worksheet and Excel template.
Can homeowners use it to compare proposals?
You can use the headings as a comparison checklist. Ask each professional to clarify differences in scope, deliverables, review rounds, exclusions and fee treatment before comparing totals.
