Choose a kitchen worktop by comparing the actual proposed product or slab, its care instructions and the installed scope. A render can communicate a colour or pattern, but it cannot prove the material, finish or performance. Keep those choices separate when preparing the brief.

Use the care instructions as part of the decision
Caesarstone India’s quartz guidance calls for a cutting board and a trivet or hot pad beneath hot cookware. It also notes that some textured finishes can show everyday marks more readily than polished finishes. Apply these as instructions for the named products; do not turn them into a promise that all quartz has identical performance. Caesarstone India: quartz care and maintenance.
The Natural Stone Institute explains that sealing is not necessary for every granite countertop, though some benefit from it. Ask the fabricator what the selected stone and any existing treatment require. Avoid a universal rule that every granite must be resealed on the same schedule. Approve the visible layout before fabrication
Look at the actual slab or product samples in the intended lighting. Ask how the pattern, joints and edges will appear across the proposed runs. A small swatch cannot explain every transition on a long counter or island. Confirm the sample or slab reference in writing.
Provide the selected sink, hob and other relevant equipment information to the responsible fabricator and designer. Ask for coordinated cut-out, edge and support details. Fabrication and installation should be handled by competent professionals; this comparison is not a cutting or installation instruction.
Compare the installed worktop, not just a material rate
Ask how the quoted area is measured, what thickness and edge are included, and whether transport, lifting, cut-outs, joints, removal and fitting are separate. Compare the same layout and scope. Keep any unresolved installation assumptions visible in your kitchen budget.
Collect the care instructions and applicable product and workmanship terms at handover. Tell the designer about your cooking routine and cleaning preferences before choosing the finish, so maintenance becomes a considered decision rather than an unexpected requirement.
Questions before you decide
Can I identify quartz or granite from the gallery image?
No. Especially in an AI concept, the appearance is not proof of a specified material. Ask for an identified product or slab and a physical sample.
Does granite always need sealing?
No universal rule applies to every slab and treatment. Discuss the selected stone with the fabricator and follow relevant product and stone-care guidance.
Is a lower material rate a lower project price?
Not necessarily. Compare the same measured worktop with fabrication, delivery, fitting and exclusions included.
