Two bedrooms do not define a complete interior scope. One 2 BHK may need only storage and furniture; another may need a kitchen, bathroom work and new services. Start by listing the rooms and retained items, then use the worksheet to total comparable quoted packages.
Separate room packages from shared costs
Create a room list covering the living and dining area, kitchen, both bedrooms, bathrooms and any balcony or utility space included in the work. For each, record what is retained, repaired, replaced or newly supplied. Include the existing furniture you plan to move in.
Next list costs that cross rooms: design services, site coordination, painting, lighting, electrical changes, delivery and installation. Decide where each is counted. A bedroom package that includes installation should not have the same labour entered again under whole-home costs.
| Area | Decisions that change the scope |
|---|---|
| Living and dining | Furniture retained, seating capacity, TV or display storage, curtains and lighting. |
| Kitchen | Retain or replace carcasses, worktop, appliances, sink and services. |
| Bedroom one | Bed, wardrobe, dressing, work surface and furniture to retain. |
| Bedroom two | Permanent bedroom, shared kids’ room, or work-and-guest arrangement. |
| Bathrooms and utility | Decorative changes versus removal, repairs, waterproofing and service work. |
| Whole home | Professional services, finishes, logistics, taxes and temporary arrangements. |
Compare identified materials, not package names
Ask for the actual board, finish and hardware on each joinery line. Greenpanel, for example, lists pre-laminated products across different MDF variants. A quote that only says “laminated wardrobe” does not identify the same product as another quote. Greenpanel: pre-laminated MDF ranges.
For each room, request a drawing or quantity schedule and mark missing products as unresolved. Ask which pictures show the proposer’s completed work and which are concepts. An attractive render cannot establish the scope or material included in the price.
Build your quoted-cost worksheet
Enter amounts in rupees from your own quotes or allowances. Leave unknown items blank; enter 0 only when you have confirmed there is no additional charge. Count each item once, including taxes already included in a quote.
Blank lines are unknown costs, not zero-cost items.
This is a subtotal of the amounts you enter, not an Aangan estimate or supplier quote. Amounts stay in this tab and are not submitted to Aangan. Download a copy before leaving if you want to keep them.
Choose a phase without losing the full budget
If the proposed total exceeds your available budget, separate essentials needed before moving in from items that can be added later. Ask the professional which later work would disturb finished surfaces, require repeat site visits or depend on earlier wiring and joinery decisions.
Keep the deferred scope visible beside the first phase so the smaller contract is not mistaken for the cost of the complete home. Confirm the accepted quote, exclusions, revision process and schedule before committing.
Questions before you decide
Can I multiply the apartment area by a rate?
Only when the provider defines the area basis and what the rate includes. Carpet area, built-up area and the measured surface of furniture are not interchangeable. Use a measured scope and an itemised proposal.
Does this guide publish a market price range?
No. Aangan has not verified comparable whole-home quotes for a national range. The worksheet totals your inputs and keeps missing items visible.
Should design fees be a separate line?
Record them separately when they are separately charged. If included in a package, obtain the deliverables in writing and avoid counting the charge twice.
