A bathroom renovation quote needs to explain what happens below and behind the visible finishes. Replacing accessories is a different scope from removing tiles, investigating leakage and changing fixtures. Use this guide to request an itemised proposal and track the amounts you have actually been quoted.
Define the starting condition
Record existing fixtures, photographs, known leakage or maintenance problems, and which items you want to keep. Ask a qualified professional to inspect conditions that cannot be established from photographs. Keep uncertain repair work visible as an unresolved item until the investigation and scope are agreed.
If changing the layout is proposed, ask who assesses plumbing, drainage, electrical work and relevant building requirements. Include how access to a working bathroom will be maintained during the project. These decisions belong in the brief before the decorative selections are finalised.
| Package | Questions to resolve |
|---|---|
| Removal and repairs | What is removed, how waste is handled, and which substrate repairs are included? |
| Waterproofing | Which complete system, preparation, application, curing and testing are specified? |
| Tiles and surfaces | Which products, measured quantities, trims, adhesive, grout and installation scope? |
| Fixtures and fittings | Exact sanitaryware, taps, shower, accessories and installation requirements? |
| Services and ventilation | Who supplies and installs each service item and checks coordination? |
| Completion | Cleaning, tests, outstanding-item corrections, documents and applicable support? |
Treat waterproofing as a specified system
Asian Paints describes bathroom waterproofing as a sequence including preparation, repairs, application, curing and water testing before tiling. Ask the proposer to identify the system and the steps in the quote and programme. A coating price alone does not describe the installed package. Asian Paints: bathroom waterproofing.
Do not substitute a generic duration from an online article for the selected products’ instructions. Ask the responsible professional to document the proposed process, checks and readiness for the next trade. The cost worksheet is a budgeting aid, not a waterproofing method.
Build your quoted-cost worksheet
Enter amounts in rupees from your own quotes or allowances. Leave unknown items blank; enter 0 only when you have confirmed there is no additional charge. Count each item once, including taxes already included in a quote.
Blank lines are unknown costs, not zero-cost items.
This is a subtotal of the amounts you enter, not an Aangan estimate or supplier quote. Amounts stay in this tab and are not submitted to Aangan. Download a copy before leaving if you want to keep them.
Compare exclusions before the final total
Check whether fixtures, tile transport, access charges, disposal, taxes and work outside the bathroom are included. Confirm how additional repairs found after opening up will be proposed and approved. Keep a record of the agreed scope and photographs of relevant stages with the project team.
Before handover, agree how operation, drainage, fixtures, ventilation and outstanding items will be checked by the people responsible. Collect product information and the applicable workmanship and product terms rather than relying on a general promise attached to a finish.
Questions before you decide
Can a tile price tell me the renovation cost?
No. It is one input. The installed scope can include removal, repairs, services, waterproofing, adhesives, grout, fixtures, labour and logistics.
Should I choose a national standard bathroom price?
Use a property-specific inspection and written scope. Aangan has not verified an installed-cost dataset that would justify a national price for your bathroom.
Can an unknown repair amount be entered as zero?
Leave it blank until resolved, or record your own explicit allowance. Zero means you have confirmed there is no additional charge for that line.
